Spring Day 2006 The main Spring Day 2006 event in Engure Secondary school on April 11 was devoted to studies of Europe on different levels. Traditional activities like drawing and poem writing contests were supplemented with country quizzes, singing songs and discussing the future of Europe in all the foreign languages studied at school English, German and Russian.
The special attraction of the celebration were three young and wonderful guests NGO workers Fanny Muller from France, Arnaud Martin from Belgium and Daniel J. Hernaiz from Spain. They have spent some time in Latvia working in the nearby cities of Jelgava and Tukums. They gave fine presentations of their countries , told about advantages volunteer work presents. Living only in one`s own place people cannot understand the life in other countries. Becoming an insider is a unique experience that makes people appreciate their own culture and feel the diferences in other societies. These experiences can be both positive and negative but the main thing is optimistic approach to life.
The day at school was made different from usual routine by pupils and teachers wearing blue and yellow coloured garments and European music being played by Spring Day DJ Mārtiņš during the breaks.
Spring day Helpers Sintija, Vita, Signija and Ance supervised the drawing contests and evaluated the answers given during the country quizzes.
