In summer time visitors from all over the world are welcome to Engure!

Accomodation can be found at the hostel of the Maritime school (for 120 people ) in single ,double and 3-bed rooms.
There are  4 cafes and 8 shops in Engure.
We offer:
   - sightseeing bus tours to the most picturesque places of Latvia;
   - swimming in the sea, angling in Engure Lake, that is the longest lake in 
     Latvia, situated 2 km from Engure centre;
   - sailing ( the depth of Engure port is 4.5 metres);
   - picking of wild berries and mushroom hunting in the surrounding forests;
   - amber hunting.

A short note about Engure pagasts.

Engure pagasts (local community) is situated on the NW coast of Riga Gulf of the Baltic sea.Its territory stretches for 43.5 km from Klapkalnciems to Mērsrags.
There are 7 villages in the area of community ( total area 123 km2).
     * Klapkalnciems,
     * Apšuciems,
     * Plieņciems,
     * Ķesterciems,
     * Engure,
     * Abragciems,
     * Bērzciems.
the number of inhabitants in  1997 was  2747, but on January 1,2005  - 2904.
the history of Engure dates back to the 12th century when a village of the Livs was situated here. The origin of the name can be traced to a Liv word "angern", meaning - "eel".

 In historic documents Engure has been mentioned in 1567; it was a  large village then. It has been reknown for its port that was the basis for traditional fishing and sea-faring skills.In 1875 a navigation school was opened in Engure.
The main occupation of the inhabitants is fishing.There is a fish preserve factory "Unda" that  exports its produce also to other countries. Other businesses include tourism, forestry, building and transport.
Engure port provides services for fishing boats and sailing boats.
The vicinity of Engure abounds in picturesque and historical sightseeing places. There is a legend about Marija Hill ( a former castle mound). Engure church  is a significant historical object (built in 1804, bell tower in 1922, altarpiece painted in 1851, the organ installed in 1857.). Old dwelling houses are characteristic of fishermen`s villages.
Engure beach is different from other parts Latvian sea coast.
